On 11^th April, 2014, two people brought a kitten to our shelter. They informed us that this kitten was lying near their house. Some street dogs had attacked her. The mother of this kitten was no where to be seen and this little one was lying there alone on the road. Taking pity over this kitten, the two people picked her up from there. The kitten was around one month old and was badly injured by the dogs. She was quite scared and weak, as can be expected.

We admitted the kitten in our shelter and the treatment started. We kept the kitten in a separate ward. Slowly and steadily, day by day, her health improved and she became quite active. We released her into a bigger cat ward where we keep a small window open to let cats wander around freely. Cats are very independent beings and we respect that. We do not like to keep them locked up in a cage. We give them the freedom to choose what they want. If they want, they can sit in the ward, and if they want, they can go out and hunt and enjoy the free life. She rapidly got adjusted to our environment of PFA and developed quite an affection towards everyone. We named the kitten “KISKI”.  She was recently given for adoption to a family.

This is how a small action on the part of the two people gave a new life to the kitten. Most of the time, we humans are in such a mad rush that we overlook the pain of the animal lying on the roadside and their cries for help. Sometimes, even if we notice it, we think that someone else will do something for the animal and we go about with our daily duties.

This is a call to all animal lovers to please be aware and pay attention to your surroundings. It can happen that there is an injured animal lying there waiting for someone to reach out. It can happen that you are their only hope for survival, so PLEASE don't ignore. We thank you all for having a compassionate heart.
